Senior Software Engineer

1. Develop, design, analyze, and configure software applications and other internal software applications and systems used by internal team members, insurance agents, and customers involved in insurance transactions 2. Code, test, and troubleshoot software applications and other internal software platform applications and systems 3. Design mobile and internal platform software application architecture and program specifications for new mobile software application products while ensuring that expected application performance levels are achieved by managing interfaces, service levels, standards, and configurations 4. Provide strategic direction and guide the software development engineering team through the demanding software development lifecycle as to the intricate design, implementation, peer review, and production of insurance software applications development and sophisticated information systems 5. Analyze and study software development applications design and information needs, and recommend unique and customized technical solutions and upgrades to Engineering Managers while continuously researching and learning about new information systems and software technology within the insurance industry that will help improve efficiency and effectiveness for overall business 6. Monitor operating efficiency and organizational needs of existing mobile and internal platform software applications and systems, and identify opportunities to fine-tune and optimize applications of developed projects 7. Improve mobile software applications and internal software platform applications and systems already in place by collaborating with other software and information technology team members and studying current practices, identifying problems, designing modifications, and writing improved software coding procedures 8. Confer with users to gain understanding of needed changes or modification of existing mobile software applications and internal software platform applications and systems, and resolve questions of program intent, data input, output requirements, and internal checks and controls A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or similar field of study is required (a foreign educational equivalent is acceptable); however, Central Insurance Company will also accept a U.S. Single-Source Bachelor's Degree Equivalent through any combination of education, degrees, diplomas, and/or certificates as determined by a professional evaluation service, or any suitable combination of education, training, or experience. Also required is 24 months of employment experience as an Advanced Software Developer, Technical Lead, or Software Architect. The place of employment is at Central Insurance Company’s Technology Office at 6620 Mooney Street, Dublin, Ohio 43017; however, Central Insurance Company will allow telecommuting from home within the same Bureau of Labor Statistics Area as the place of employment no more than two days per week.
