Overview

This position will provide support for maintenance and janitorial services for the Valor Academy of Ohio community school located in Columbus, OH.  The school can support up to 200 students from grades 4-8.  There are two levels to the building.  The job will require the individual to do general maintenance (changing air filters, fixing holes/walls/doors, painting, etc.) as well as general janitorial services throughout the school (classrooms, cafeteria, common rooms, restrooms, offices, conference rooms, etc.)

Primary duties and responsibilities:

Performing general and ongoing maintenance of facilities and systems
Upkeep of physical facilities environment
Replacing nonworking equipment (lighting, chairs, office equipment…)
Maintenance of systems
HVAC filter replacement, plumbing maintenance, electrical maintenance.
Developing and implementing creative solutions to facilities issues.
Overseeing and directing priorities and activities of additional maintenance contractors in conjunction with the school leadership team.
Maintaining facilities maintenance priorities and ensuring facilities issues are handled in a timely and effective manner.
Janitorial, general cleaning
Inventory and order of building supplies
Other duties as assigned
Must be able to pass a background check

Education/Training:

High School Diploma or GED.
Clean DMV record.
Experience in a facilities maintenance position
HVAC, plumbing, and/or electrical experience highly preferred.
Drywall repair and paint experience.
Furniture assembly and adjustments to furniture.
High experience with various types of tools.
Experience creating and directing maintenance priorities.
Successful completion of a fingerprint background check.

Environmental Conditions:

High level of physical movement and activity.
Position requires frequent crouching, bending, stooping, and other physical movements.
Frequent use of ladders.
Able to work at various heights.
Consistent use of fine motor skills.
Consistent use of power tools and other maintenance equipment.
Maintenance operation on HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Lifting and carrying of 50+ lbs
